“Soccer96 brings contemplative electronica infused with vitality, audacity and a plurality of ideas and perspectives. It’s a highly intoxicating blend of cosmic jazz, psych synth and organic electronica, giving nods to a dazzling diversity of influences.” The Quietus

Soccer96, is the revered synth and drums duo of Danalogue [Dan Leavers] and Betamax [Max Hallett] who transmit epic synth-scapes over poly-rhythmic drums and infectious dance grooves in a brutal cocktail of tight electronica and the spontaneous energy of improvisation. The duo most known as being two thirds of Mercury nominated band The Comet Is Coming (Impulse! Universal), and also producing and mixing the groups records. Between extensive touring they also collaborate with a huge array of talent.

As well as performing live on his synths in various groups, Danalogue is an in demand record producer, producing both of the critically acclaimed Snapped Ankles albums, as well as working on records with Bo Ningen, Ibibio Soundmachine, Flamingods, Lunch Money and Vels Trio. Betamax is a highly regarded drummer who’s other bands include Hot Head Show, Champagne Dub and Super Best Friends Club. Max is also an auxiliary member of Sons of Kemet and has collaborated with international artists M.A.S.T and Sandunes.

Last year’s mesmerising Tactics EP features the completely original Alabaster dePlume. His lyrics and vocal performances provide an acerbic and witty take on the hypocrisies of the leftist ideal against a the backdrop of mass consumerism and the rise of fascism across Europe.  We can’t promise Alabaster this time around, but are thrilled to welcome Soccer96 and expect fireworks on Friday night Baby Grand Stage.
